THE STORY OF THE LITTLE BIRD

One certain day, the forest where some animals lived in caught fire and was burning down, all the animals ran out and stood in front of the burning forest as they watched their habitat burn to ashes. But there was this little bird that flew to a nearby river, took in as much water as its beak could accommodate and dropped it in the burning forest, he kept doing this until the animals asked “Why are you wasting your time? No matter how much you try, your beak is too little to take in enough water to quench this fire.”
The little bird answered “At least, I should try the best I can to put out the fire; rather than stand, looking and doing nothing about it”.

I urge us to be like this little bird. Whenever there is a problem or situation going on around us, we should try the best we can to solve the problem. These days, once the problem does not affect us, we shut our eyes to it. But we are to be our brother’s keepers and love our neighbors as ourselves.
We may not be able to bring the perfect solution to a problem but being by that your friend or neighbor in difficulty; holding his/her hand saying “It’s going to be fine soon” goes a long way in putting a smile on their faces and solving almost half of the problem.

Even our prayers bring solutions to problems, the prayer of intercession is one of the most powerful prayers. God honors it and blesses the intercessor.
There is this joy and happiness you feel when you take part in trying to bring solution to a problem and the happiness is complete when the problem is eventually solved.
If we can all be like this little bird, treating problems like it’s ours; I believe the world will be a better and peaceful place to live in.

I will like to use this medium to ask us all to pray for our country Nigeria. The crisis and chaos are worsening as the day goes by. We may say it does not concern us because we do not stay in the North but if the church does not stand in the gap and if we do not intercede for our country, it would affect us and we would lose our freedom academically, religiously and even freedom of movement. Besides, people are being killed, if not for anything, let us pray for our brothers and friends there. At least 30mins a day to pray for our country will do a lot of good.
There is a benefit for every intercessor praying for the country, we can see this in Ezekiel 9:1-6; verse 4 says “and said to him, go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it”.. Then verse 6 says “slaughter old men, young men and maidens, women and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark….” Interceding for the nation places a mark of separation and protection on our foreheads.
Let us all remember our country in prayer every day and we would witness a change and turnaround of situations.

Remain blessed and I love you.
