YOU’VE BEEN AWAY FOR TOO LONG… IT’S TIME TO COME BACK (3)

Taking off from where we stopped in the previous post, talking about some factors that hinder us from coming back to Him quickly, we would discuss  one other factor and then conclude this series of it’s time to come back in today’s post.

Sometimes, when we fall into sin especially when it is something we’ve not done before, we see the sin as unpardonable, we feel we have done the worst of all and God will not forgive us or accept us back but that is not true because the love and blood of Jesus Christ is so powerful that it cleanses and blots out ALL and not some of our sins. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are as crimson, they will be like wool (Isaiah 1: 18)”. There is one interesting thing about God’s love for us; even though you deny Him, He can never deny you. Let us look at the scenario of a father and his son, no matter what a son does to his father, he may be disowned but he would still bear the father’s name and the blood of his father would still run in his vein. This is how it is with God, once we are His, we are His. Sin will not make Him deny you or disown you, all you need do is go to Him and say “Father, I am sorry” genuinely and the relationship is restored. The blood of Jesus can never run dry, it’s been shed and is still there, flowing like a fountain.

I used to live with a whole lot of guilt because of the stuffs I used to do then, did certain things to the extent it became normal, like they were not wrong and this kept me away from God, this made things really unstable in my life. It was after then I found out that unconfessed sins do not only lead to guilt but it also makes you have this feeling (permit me to express this exactly how I felt then) that i have done the worst, God is so angry and displeased with me, He wont forgive me.When i have this feeling, i go on committing that particular sin with the excuse ofI have done it already before, doing it again does not change anything. Since it is the same thing, I will ask for His forgiveness later when and if the need to arises”. Dunno if you’ve ever felt this way. This is actually the devil at work here, bringing up the guilt and making you see yourself as not being worthy of standing before God or coming to His presence. When I decided to really give the Holyspirit a chance in my life, I discovered that it is better and safer to repent of a sin immediately, I discovered it does not take God up to a second to forgive you once you come to Him in true repentance.

When the devil comes to you with all forms of accusations, remind him of the love and blood of Jesus, then remind him also of his future. At least we have the redemption by the blood of Jesus but as for him, there is no hope at all for him, he would be locked up forever. (Revelation 20:10).

Ultimately, living with sin would lead to hell when one dies or when the rapture takes place. For we know not the hour the son of God will come neither do we know when we would die, we do not pray for death but we have to be prepared at all times for the unexpected. So many people who are dead did not plan to die neither did they know they would die at that time.

Let go of that guilt now, just go to God with a genuinely repentant heart, confess your sins and ask Him for mercy and grace to live above sin. It does not take up to a second, once you do this, the blood cleanses you immediately and you would know this because you would feel this inner peace and happiness within you.

I'm not going to write a specific prayer of forgiveness for you to make, just go to Him and apologize truly, use words that express how truly sorry you are. You must not make this prayer in the church or in front of the altar during an altar call, you can do this right there where you are, in your office, your closet, even while walking; all that matters is the state of your heart not the environment.

There are some songs I love listening to that gives me assurance of the cleansing power of His blood and His forgiveness. Here are some of the songs and their artists, you can search them out on the net and download them:
