Most, if not all, of us have heard of this story but I would
like to tell it, though it is not the exact way but paraphrased.
A certain village was experiencing drought for a while and one
day, the villagers decided to meet for prayers. When they gathered at the
appointed time, a little boy came with an umbrella. Eventually, it rained and
when the boy was asked why he came with an umbrella, he replied “I believed it was going to rain and I did
not want to get soaked”.
This is not just having faith but he also took action.
It is mostly at the point of action you receive your
miracle. In most cases, it does not just stop at believing but taking a step
that shows you really have faith. There are so many instances in the bible where
people received their healing and miracles at the point of action. An example
is the woman with the issue of blood for 12 years, “When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and
touched his cloak, because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." Immediately
her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her
suffering” (Mark 5:27-29) (NIV).
She thought and believed she would be healed by touching His
garment but if she had sat there with her thought or faith without acting by
touching His garment, she would not have received her healing.
Even in most healing performed by Jesus, like that of the
man who was crippled, He said to the cripple “Get up, take up your mat and
walk” (John 5:8-10). If the man did not take that action and just sat there
without trying to stand, he would not have received his healing.
If there is a job you are believing to get, you would not
sit at home expecting them to bring your appointment letter to you; you have to
go there and apply.
Taking an action shows God the level of your trust and He
would not cut your expectation short; the bible says “without faith, it is impossible to please God”. When you have faith
and go further by taking action, God will be pleased and not let your action or
effort waste except that you seek is not His will.
Isaiah 54:2 says, would use the message version because I love
the way it is written here, “Sing, barren
woman, who has never had a baby. Fill the air with song, you who've never
experienced childbirth! You're ending up with far more children than all those
childbearing women." God says so! "Clear lots of ground for your
tents! Make your tents large. Spread
out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You're going
to need lots of elbow room for your growing family. You're going to take over whole
nations; you're going to resettle abandoned cities. Don't be afraid — you're not going to be embarrassed. Don't
hold back — you're not going to come up short. You'll forget all about the humiliations
of your youth, and the indignities of being a widow will fade from memory. For
your Maker is your bridegroom, his name, God-of-the-Angel-Armies! Your Redeemer
is The Holy of Israel, known as God of the whole earth.” It says, spread
out, think big and also, you are not going to be embarrassed because your maker
is the God of the whole earth. This is an encouragement to take action, do not
be afraid for He will bring that which you believe for to come to pass.
Is there an action you can take to buttress your faith? I
suggest you take that action and receive your miracle. Faith is really
important, it is actually the foundation upon which everything is built on but
most times, we need to take action to receive the miracle. That thing you are
expecting could be there already but without an action, you would not know.
Put your faith into action.
Remain blessed and I love you.
